Championships, championships everywhere!! For the second month in a row the entries were affected by
events such as Little Green Man, Super 4, and NKF. However, although the numbers were seriously down,
this did not impact upon high quality and competitive racing, which we have come to expect from the
LKRC drivers.

There was terrific racing in the WTP final. The podium positions were closely fought
for throughout the fifteen lap race. Ashley Davison, Sam Priest and Matthew Lindley
looked as if they were tied together all through the proceedings, so close was the
racing. On the penultimate lap Davison made a small error, which was just enough
to let Priest and Lindley through. At the end it was Priest who took the honours,
with Lindley and Davison biting at his heels. Only one second separated all three.
First novice – Lewis Brown.

In Comer Stephen Letts had a clean sweep with wins in all of the heats as well as
the final. Second place man, Jack Bliss, was unable to make an impression on the
dominant Letts and was himself being challenged for position by novice Tom Gadd.
Unfortunately, Gadd was forced to retire and that was the race positions finally
sealed.

The top three drivers in the Minimax final had pulled away from the rest of
the field by lap four and it looked like their positions were set for the finish.
However, on lap ten Jack Ryan overtook Ashley Lacey to take the lead. Ryan
made a valiant attemp to retain this position but, in turn, was passed by Louie
Marshall. At the end it was Marshall, Ryan and then Lacey, with less than
0.5 seconds separating all three.

First Novice - Edward Jones.

The large grid of Junior Rotax drivers produced some exciting racing throughout the
entire field. Myles Collins had a lights to flag win, but was kept under constant
pressure from second place man David Binks. It was third place driver, James Bowkett,
who had an amazing race. Starting sixteenth on the grid, he quickly fought his way
through the pack and started to give chase to the leaders but could not quite
match their pace. It was still a very commendable drive.

Sam Clegg
There had been battles throughout the day between Sam Clegg and
Andrew Vizard in Senior Rotax. This continued into the final which saw
Clegg managing to keep Vizard at bay but only winning by 0.08 seconds,
which is probably equivalent to a nose cone in distance terms. Steven
Baldock and Christian Lawrence were having a similar tussle for third
place honours, which eventually went to Baldock.

Tim Woods

Unfortunately, the gearbox grids had been decimated
by the Super 4 Championship round, being held
elsewhere in the country. The 125s saw Mark Culey
take a straightforward lights to flag win, with Robert
Douglas coming second.

In the 250s race, Tim Woods made a good start,
which gave him the lead. Mark Goodliffe, the current
club championship leader, was unable to make an
impression on Woods and had to settle with
second place.

The next meeting will be on August 23rd / 24th
